The Mainstreet Bowness Business Improvement Area, once called “The Village in the Valley” is nestled in a beautiful elbow of the Bow River in North West Calgary. Our strong community supports a wide range of businesses from popular restaurants, unique service shops and nightlife. A small-town atmosphere with free angled parking makes our area an easy to shop district where our owners work together to promote and improve our economic vitality. Our long and rich history dates back to the 1940’s with taxi stands and a street car system. Several long standing independent businesses still call Mainstreet Bowness home while they occupy some of the original buildings that still exist.
We take pride in our community to create, promote and maintain an attractive, vibrant and prosperous business areas. Whether it’s making our street beautiful with seasonal flowers and lights or improving pedestrian safety, we work hard to make our unique community a dependable and enjoyable shopping experience for our customers.
